The Position

Work from our Stellenbosch offices or remotely with a team building a gamified virtual and simulation solution that helps golfers improve with every shot and turns driving ranges into entertainment centres for golfers and non-golfers alike.

We are looking for a junior 3D artist to join the Inrange software team.

As a junior 3D Artist you will be assisting in generating 3D Assets (Modelling, UV-layout, Texturing); assemble and populate scenes; optimise game assets for optimal performance.

Join our team to further push the graphics boundaries in our software to give players the best visual golf experience.

Job Objectives

Junior 3D Artist

  • Use applicable software to create quality 3D Graphics
  • General modelling and uv-layout
  • Generating custom textures
  • Editing images
  • 3D assets optimisation
  • Populating scenes

Internal Process

  • Work within an agile development team process and structure
  • Learning new software and tools
  • Writing and updating of documentation

Key Contribution Areas

Modelling 3D Assets

  • Modelling/editing golf terrains, buildings, trees, plants, etc.
  • UV-layout and texturing
  • Working with LOD models
  • Assets optimisation

Unity Scenes

  • Assemble assets
  • Adding additional attributes to game objects
  • Populate scenes with trees, plants, rocks, etc.

Team Process

  • Working within an Agile team
  • Reviews and general notes
  • Team collaboration

Technical Experience

We are looking for candidates who have experience in the following:

  • Solid foundation working in any 3D Software (3ds Max, Maya, Blender, etc.)
  • Basic understanding using 2D software (Photoshop)
  • Editing 3D geometry
  • Generating uv’s
  • Basic understanding of rendering
  • Good problem-solving skills

Requirements

Degree or Diploma in one of the following:

  • Visual Communication
  • Animation
  • Visual Design
  • Creative Media

Non-Technical Skills

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work well in a team as well as individually
  • Attention to detail, and ability to think creatively outside the box
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Golf/sporting experience
  • Game engine (Unity, Unreal, Godot, etc.) experience
  • Game design experience
  • Coding/dev experience
